An impulse to write in English which was fairly strong with me once, has weakened as the years have passed. Occassionally, pressed by a kindly Editor to contribute to some special issue of his magazine, and by a friendly Station Director of the Madras station of the A.I.R. to take part in the programmes of his station, I have put some other short stories of mine into English in these twenty years. Nine such translations previously published in various magazines have now been brought together in this slim volume.
