The children’s story “Unhelpful Friends” tells about a bunny rabbit who lives happily in the forest with many animal friends. One day, wild dogs start chasing the bunny, and he becomes very frightened. He runs to his friends—such as the deer, bear, elephant, and monkey—and asks them for help. However, each friend refuses to help because they are busy, tired, or doing something else.

Feeling sad and disappointed, the bunny realizes that he cannot depend on his friends. He decides to think for himself and hides quietly under a bush. Because of his quick thinking, the wild dogs cannot find him and eventually leave.
